Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

It must have been a pure budget decision

For those that were fired, I'm sorry for some good people and good riddance to others. I saw examples of cleaning house that needed to be done. The shocker was seeing good people let go that does not make sense. All I can say is it must have been a pure budget decision. The remaining ones (including myself) should count your blessings but get your house in order as I sincerely believe this is temporary. Maybe another year then we will go through this again at an even more painful level. And again and again. My amateur economist opinion is GM won't be here in 10 years. Period.

I agree with @XExvJ2A-2woz 100%. Good post!

My group was told that performance was not a factor in the decisions to cut people. Indeed, good people left, and bad people stayed. It seems to be all about taking an age cross section of the population.

I was let go and most of the lazy people I used to work with got to stay(only 2 of the lazy people got let go lol) . I think it's unfair but nothing I can change now and it's best to move on where my ambition will be rewarded. I just applied for 7 new jobs :)

If my layoff means that GM will put more money in their cars and be more competitive then im all for it.

We all know thats not gonna happen but, i like to look at the bright side of things.
