The thirst is so real...

Running a Call Center or Customer Service dept still requires some level of understanding of how things works. Are they good at that, no, how can they be? Bet you call any other Call Center or Customer Service area in any other industry and you’ll find that someone in those leadership positions understands their business.

There was a time when people were promoted through the ranks due to their knowledge and potential leadership skills. That has clearly been tossed aside for people who believe that it isn’t necessary to understand the work. Not saying do the work, but at least should have some concept of what it means to trace a car.

Even Mr. Vena places a call and expects that person to be able to answer his question but is finding out these people can’t. So, now we’re in a position where the lowest level positions know very little all the way up through the leadership team who are the individuals making decisions.

Then why are you trolling this site?

So they what they don’t have operating experience, they are running a call center and customer service department. The question is are they good at that or not.

Seems like another complaint for complaint sake..... glad I’m no longer in that toxic environment where people turn on each other when they should be coming together.

The one from shipcarsnow was a director of 4 employees. Then he was moved to another subsidiary that had < 30 employees

Actual knowledge of how the railroad works is completely irrelevant. Even Lance has zero field experience, he started as a VP in the Energy group when he was in his early 30’s.

This is absolutely accurate, I work in this dept. As for track record, none of them have any operating experience whatsoever. In fact, with the exception of one of the Regional Directors, only one has any field experience. The rest are from M&S and one came from one of the subsidiaries.

And I’ll ask again - what is the track record of these individuals at UP that qualified them for these promotions?

Looking online does every customer have their individual customer representative? Kind of like out in the field where every union job has a manager supervisor making sure they work?
