I was a 5 star in my group with a very good performance. However they laid me off Monday last week without any notice. they took my laptop and access to the building within 30 min. is this really fair?

GM is smart not to reveal even a pattern on age, to avoid litigation. They did their homework and covered all bases. I wish they forgot something that a trial lawyer finds and GM gets fined heavily by regulatory boards. They are NOW in a recruiting spree of College Grads in level 5
Can't speak for how the decision was made at every location but at our location it didn't seem to be a matter of performance, age or experience but rather or not that functional group was needed any more with the new org.

Age is not a matter for that lay offs! I would agree with in GT you are safe if you're in the legacy HP/Dell circle. As there is no login behind this, my guess is they just laid off per what people race is!
in GT, you are safe if you're in the legacy HP/Dell circle...dead weight or not. One team alone, they had 3 asians, 1 african-american and 1 middle eastern axed !!
I am over 25 but a way less less than people that are working there and they are almost close to be retired.
