Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

What happens to the closed GM plants?

Just wondering what GM plans to do with the plans it closes. Do they have plans to eventually start some,e other production at some point, or are they just planning to neglect the assets? Is there any possibility that GM will want so sell thee assets to some other automotive company which would start production of its models. I’m from Lordstown and the Lordstown plant is a place that has good infrastructure and a wide base of experienced workers in the region. It would be a pity, not to mention a money loss to just forget about that location. On the other hand, this place would be a good potential buy for any company that plans production in the US. Any chance of that happening?

The Kalamazoo plant was turned into a shopping cart plant. The Pittsburgh plant was turned into a parts plant for the citation at the time. Obviously both these plants were fabrication. Not sure if they have turned assembly plants into anything or not. Time will tell. https://www.mlive.com/business/west-michigan/index.ssf/2015/07/midlink_business_park_anticipa.html

Closed plants are abandoned and slowly fall apart.

Nope .. no one is buying it unless UAW is out of the picture. There’s a reason all new auto plants are in the South.
