Since I’m seeing a lot of salaries thrown around feel free to see how you compare to your peers. It is illegal to prevent sharing of salaries so no worries. Please post what you feel comfortable with - level, position, and base salary

It looks like if you stay with GM for a longtime, you get screwed.
You need to move every couple years otherwise you’re stuck on merit increase.
WTF? I guess I'm getting screwed
IT Engineer
24 years at GM worked my way "up"

I knew it was bad but this thread is really depressing me.

Hello,
Anybody would like to add more this thread!
It’s really hepfull to see what others make compared to years of experience.
Base Salary , years if experience please
Hired from big 4 accounting (4 years experience) into financial analyst role at GM at a 6B level starting salary $85k with 10% bonus. Merit increase to 88k after 1 year. Promotion to 6A starting in the spring.
Those that got promotions during your time there, did you ever jump, like from 7A to 8A or did you do the abc thing?
7A $115k 25yrs at GM
It looks like long-term employees get screwed
@X9KJPTO-14dfs I'd prefer not to say as the whole point in posting here is anonymity. I will tell you that it's a small tech company with about 200 people.
I will say that, after talking with over 20 recruiters the last month who were all very open about salary range, 90k is on low-end for a software engineer with 4 or more years of experience in Austin. This was consistent amongst small startups and larger orgs with 5000+ people.
What company in Austin?
Worked about 4 years as Software Developer ... started @60k, ended @75k.
After getting laid off from Austin IT in first week of Feb ... finally got a job offer last week with a small tech company in Austin. Will be making 115k with better benefits (GM did have good benefits, at least) and my annual bonus will be about the same as my total salary increase over my 4 years @ GM ... and free coffee!
Getting laid off from GM was a blessing in disguise!
80k , janitorial , no degree.
