UPS Layoffs In GBS Finance

UPS is closing the doors of the Visalia Collections site. 64 employees and several employees within a few months to a few years of retirement will be loosing their jobs as well as the chance to retire at 55 and have health benefits. Some employees have worked over 30 years for this office and will now have nothing to show for it. This office collects hundreds of millions of dollars from National customers for UPS and UPS has decided to close this office and move jobs to the Chicago office or outsource overseas. Employees are encouraged to apply for other positions within UPS but there are no positions in Visalia Ca or near by. Sad that UPS has decided to take this action toward so many employees that have dedicated their lives to this company. There will be more layoffs to come and I wouldn't be surprised if the Chicago site is next once UPS decides they can have all national accounts collected on overseas for half the cost as US employees. It will be great for the customer that wont be able to understand the person on the other end of the phone that is representing UPS and could care less about helping the customer. UPS is too worried about their bottom line now than saving the future of this company. Piss poor customer service is going to hit them where it hurts most, their bottom line which is what they say they are trying to save. I call BS . If you think UPS cares about you or your family you are sadly mistaken as they don't care about anyone except themselves and the investors who clearly see through the corporate BS.

Sorry for you guys in Visalia. I just heard of 20 more positions being "transformed" in GA. Lots of people close to 55 as well that will lose out on benefits they worked their whole lives for. But MIP is 110%!

UPS could not care less about the service levels. Their revenues/profits are falling off a cliff and they need to take drastic action. These things don't happen for no reason or because "Management is stupid."

They happen due to economic reality, something employees are blissfully ignorant of.
