SUBURBS DOING BADLY

Does your store manager tell you about your store's sales, they should be!

We seem to be doing slightly better than plan, though it's the second week of January, we'll see how next week goes.

I've heard the big suburb stores are dead. Not a good sign for the future.

“LOOK FOR ANOTHER JOB B&N DOESN'T WANT YOU!!”

They don’t want YOU either ... they’re planning on how to close and can care less what happens to you.

The BIG suburb stores always boast about their Christmas week sales. It used to be about 2 mos. of sales years ago. Now it's just a week or 2 in late December. Those giant big stores can not and will not survive on those numbers with their stock, staff, and 2 floors of a lot of empty space. We have a huge event space that is never used except for choral groups at Christmas. We used to have authors. It just is there takes up a lot of the 2nd floor and is empty with folding chairs. So, I'm sick of those managers crowing about how good they did at holidays. Yeah. You got Jan Feb and March and then what? You have some Easter sales? Changes coming, guys.
