Missed interview call

Apparently I missed the call today for an interview , I had a missed call from an unknown number however they didn’t leave a message when I called back it was a Walmart store I had literally just applied an hour earlier ( so I figured it was for an interview ) . I called the number back at least 8 to 9 times before I actually got a hold of someone , they took down my information for a callback . However I ended up just going to the store in person , I had asked one of the associates to speak to a manager but when the associate came back the manager stated that I could not set up an interview and that they call people but if they don’t pick up they simply move onto the next person . The associate took my information down again and said that he would give it to “ HR “ . Did I ruin my chances of getting hired by not answering the call or do you think I should follow up with HR ?

Literally, that happened to me today. I applied at walmart yesterday… just for some extra shopping money since my husband has been our sole income for over 25 years and I don’t have to work, I WANT to work.

I couldn’t answer the phone at the time, and they didn’t leave a voicemail. I assumed it was likely something else since they didn’t leave a voicemail at all. But, as the day wore on, I began to wonder (hence the google search).

I’m kind of glad they haven’t called back, because if the managers or hiring agents at Walmart have the attitude of lot of people on this post have — we would NOT get along and I have never been known to take c&*p off anyone.

What self entitled a-holes to think that if you aren’t attached at the hip to your phone, you don’t “deserve” a job or aren’t “grown up”. When Karma bits ya’ll ru-p… remember your replies HERE….

I doubt very seriously if any of these negative mo–ns are managers with their high and mighty attitudes! If you are then your Not Management material. Most people don't walk around with a phone attached to their hip!
Get real and grow up!! You make it look bad for a real manager!!!

There are a lot of negative people on here. What if he was putting his child to sleep for a nap, taking a shower, or driving down the highway.

I miss calls all the time because its not always the appropriate time to answer the phone. You ppl need to get a life and realize not every person is glued to their phones all day or willing to risk their safety for a call.....maybe they were at work already, you know being responsible and taking care of business until the next opportunity comes along.

I was a recruiter in the oil and gas industry for several years. I had a list of ppl I wanted to screen for interviews mid-week and would generally leave a message or try again the next day. After the 3rd attempt, then I would no longer make or attempt to call. This is also an era where ppl list their email address on applications....after the 2nd call I would usually email the applicant (other than general labor positions) to let them know we were reaching out to them for more information.

You guys/girls with negative feedback might want to listen for the pop. It seems like your heads are a little to far up you arse to be worth talking to or aski g for advice. Clean you mommas basement really good, we don't want you getting kicked out.

This is your first clue on how they treat their employees. Run, don't walk out. Apply at Costco, Target, Aldi, etc.!

If you’re really looking for a job ANSWER THE PHONE! One of the most annoying things is calling someone who put in an application, no answer and then they’re calling back 5 minutes later. If you’re not adult enough to answer the phone you’re not adult enough to work for me.

move on , you are on the wrong page here. Find another one to complain on. Grow up , answer your phone. WM does not need to beg you to come to work.

What those two said. Consider this a good omen. Any employee too petty for a single call back attempt is nobody you wanna work for.

Take a breath. Relax. This was a practice run, and you came real close. Keep at it and you'll have success-----and at a much better company.

Yea why would you want to work at Walmart? U like paying way to much for insurance that covers nothing? U would rather work for your normal pay than be home with family on holidays? Maybe working for a company that steals (accrued sick hours) from its employees sounds like fun? A 15 minute lunch break for an 11 hour shift sounds like plenty? You don't like to ever get a raise? Sooo many reasons this company s---s to work for, and it gets worse every single year!

Be glad you missed the call. If you find yourself thinking of applying again, don’t.
