Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Update: upcoming changes.

Early next week...MM's and MHRM's fly to Texas for meetings on these upcoming changes.

Thursday or Friday there will be a call to announce these changes with the store managers first.

15 months ago they realigned and left some markets with up 18 stores while some had seven when they could have easily added more.

Now unless the Market is complex most markets will be 12 to 15 or more stores as that was done as a test.

AP ASM's in low and med risk store will be cut regardless of sales volume. The Only exception will be low and med risk Academy stores.

All low risk locations made the company shrink target LY. AP ASM's will only remain in High and Max risk stores.

Complex stores will remain with the same structure ASM wise.

Overnight assistant managers will be banded by sales volume. Most stores will not have anyone overnights.

MHRM and MAPM's will also see reductions mostly Market HR as they will cover 2 Markets. Market Managers will pick up some slack and all open doors will be handled by home office.

So where are the displaced AP ASMs going to go after the cut? It's my understanding that the company is trying to avoid paying severance which by policy requires them to offer a comparable position. They are already planning to cut the bottom 20-25% performers but most stores in my market already have an overage of ASMs due to regional selection process (some stores staffed 3 ASMs over plan). Just curious to see where this leaves the AP ASMs.

I was just told as well that they will cut ASM positions. The "rumor" is that my store will no longer offer 24hr. So in order to be a store with limited hours they will cut ASM positions.

this makes me chuckle. No moves to overnights happened due to low performance. And as another one stated, this is fake news simply for the fact that they would never "band" overnight managers together. They are an ASM just as any other. Simply doing an overnight rotation doesn't put you into some pool. lol. They will band all ASM's and "talent balance" if anything.

One way is to Go to the wire and search for mpp lookup tool. You will punch in your store number and you will see if your store is low, medium, high or maximum risk.

How do you know if you are a complex store?

Yeah I would not blow this off so quickly as I heard this same stuff about an hour ago. What the poster means with the Overnight news is only stores that have a certain sales volume will retain overnight management.I have no idea what you posters are talking about. But that is 100% accurate as I heard it from my HR Managers mouth.

The AP ASM news 100% accurate as well. There will not be huge assistant manager changes outside of the reduction overnight and AP ASM's being cut in low and med risk stores and low-performing managers leaving.

What about PC/TC? I just saw that some PCs on east coast are being informed of elimination. Can anyone confirm?

When did the spider monkey fly up your butt, or was it the blind mice perhaps it’s the Koolaid drink every day the cheer. As the famous quote goes “ there is none so blind as he who will not see”. I guess the spider monkey flew up the invoice clerks, the co-managers, the APM’s whose lost their jobs. How about the truck drivers and all the managers and ASM’s at Sam’s, oh yeah the audit teams too. Three blind mice see how they run. Run to unemployment office, see you there unless you are a well paid regional or above

The part about AP is completely plausible. Lowes just announced exactly this move for all of their AP.

I have noticed that the sociopaths that pass for senior executives in retail often do the same or similar things at the same time (it's almost like there's a magazine named "Retail Executive Sociopath Monthly" that they all read). So, while Walmart employees have been complaining about losing hours and "Customer First" scheduling, at the same time Home Depot has been unleashing the "New Labor Model", Target calls it "Modernization", Best Buy calls it "One Direction", Lowes calls it "fire all the department managers", etc. All the same cr@p at the same time.

So the AP news is totally plausible, being what Lowes just did.

We had a Asm change recently at our store on overnight, we had seasoned asm and a new one(they probably won’t make it) one is a very low preformer and has been all over the store. They rather sit in AD and play on phone.

As far as meeting next week, this is very true

Also was told yesterday a lot of new changes will be taken place very soon

I am a PC in my store and kept updated by what ASMs have been told by store manager, if you are wondering where my info is coming from

I wouldn't dismiss it all so quickly. The talk about the AP ASM positions has been going around the last few days.

.......................and when all THIS doesn't come to pass. what's your next prediction? Spider monkeys flying out of your butt?

This is a prime example of what I've been telling people not to pay heed to on here.

"they already moved the low performers to overnights" Yeah ok, my Exceeds & the fact that I've been on nights for 4 years w/o coaching. I plan all mods in the building, seasonal floor plans, etc for the store. "low performers" Fake news.

That’s completely inaccurate

They already moved the Low Performers O/N That’s why they will band them . They did that on the rotation.

Why would they specifically band overnight managers? They're there same as any other assistant and rotated with the normal assistant pool. That makes no sense.
