G55 means G55. They will keep doing this until they get to 55. The question is "is it worth it?" this will not end this year and will keep going for at least 6 more years. Work stress can lower life expectancy by up to 33 years. Why do this to your family?

Lots of rr in America are in the RRB retirement program. We do not have to keep working at UPRR to get RRB benefits.
I laugh at people just calling this a "rough patch". This has been manifesting for decades and been coming to a head the past 4 years. The question is: can you handle the uncertainty mentally and physically? The more you make, the more expendable you are and harder the change is when they pull the strings for you. They have the keys to the golden handcuffs. Not you. Dont be a slave to your job. Your family would likely love you more if you werent. This is exactly what they want you to believe.

Do you know what else is bad for your “heath?” Sleeping on the streets. Fighting with your spouse about not being able to pay bills. Telling her you’re going to have to keep working until you’re 65-67 instead of getting RR benefits for you and her at 60. All because you couldn’t handle a couple years of uncertainty at work.
I think I’ll just go to work every day, handle whatever I can realistically handle for 8 hours, head home for the day...thank God for the job I have, but also make sure I’m positioning myself to be marketable in case I need to be.
