Thread regarding CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield layoffs

Any more layoffs at CareFirst?

Have there been any more layoffs? I keep wondering if what happened was just a start. And that's the kind of stressing I could really do without.

By Friday the dust should have settled for this round but don't expect that to be the end as the company will now formally restructure and they may find that additional re-sizing is required later in the year. People have been on pins and needles for the last 2-3 months... this leads to a GREAT atmosphere for productivity (sarcasm) . Previous comment a little off, there were many Directors cut only a few managers. Most people impacted with Director and above. Still sad no matter what level they were at. The economy is great but people don't just walk out of one door and make a left into the next door for the same paying job with the same benefits, etc. It takes time. These people have families and bills just like everyone left. Be empathetic to your neighbors, friends and family members that may be/have been impacted.

I had heard that there were going to be a few more today. So much for flattening from the top though, seems like a lot of Directors sacrificed their managers in order to survive. A lot of really good, hardworking, highly skilled people were let go. They didn't pick so well when they chose who to let go. The CEO wants to focus on the employee as his customer and many of those people who are left don't know how to do that. Or maybe the CEO was lying. Oh well, CareFirst's loss is someone else's gain. Best wishes to all who were let go and to the survivors too who will remain behind to try and pick up the pieces.
