Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Hard ASM work

I have worked AP my entire 7 year career at Walmart. Started out a floor walker for a year then promoted to APM. ASMs in my store and my market do absolutely nothing but create their own problems.

They don’t follow up to their areas or do anything besides open cages and take complaints.I do not want anyone to lose their job or position but ASMs have been giving AP a bad rep since I have started at this company. In my opinion, I know several APMs that do 100 times more than an ASM in any given day.

Should we be surprised that they are downsizing ASMs? Not really.

ASMs have been wanting us to be equal for years, going back to when we changed our schedules and no more holidays off. It was total BS. Now I understand we are probably on the chopping block too but one thing this company knows is that they can rely on APMs for anything! We are the bridge of trust in each store.

As soon as our chain of command changed, AP was dealt a death blow. We used to be a neutral non-biased entity in the stores, now we have to keep our mouths shut. Issues brought up to MAPMs are always met with "partner with your store manager". They tacked on the ASM part because they needed another keyholder and someone to pick up some of the old Comgr tasks when they were shown the door. It had nothing to do with "how great we are". As I've seen in retail, when managers are laid off they will just hand store keys to people further down the ladder. Supports and CAP supervisors - looking at you guys! Who knows maybe even CSMs!
