Crime has gone up in our metro area. One of three metro areas in our mostly rural state. The increase in crime has made headlines in our state frequently over the last two years. The store sustained tens of thousands of dollars in loss due to an external crime committed by a former store employee. That crime in particular amounted to over $30,000. That former employee is now even a suspect in the robbery of ANOTHER Lowe's where the suspect worked when it was robbed, thanks entirely to my spouse's investigatory expertise.
The store where my spouse worked is located directly on a state highway. My spouse, who is one of those laid off, had managed to reduce shrink by tens of thousands, meet and exceed numbers for loss, safety, etc. And managed to lower her store's risk level by one full point. So yes, those who do a good job WILL be punished for it. Don't believe for a second that you wont. As has been stated in another post: Existing Level 5 and 6 stores will be re-evaluated within the next year. Expect more LP layoffs when those stores are re-classified. Of course, corporate leadership COULD pull their heads out of their anal orifices and wise up. They did at Home Depot. But don't count on it.
My spouse has several legal cases going through the local courts, including the major felony store robbery in which my spouse was able to present a case against a former employee who was arrested and charged. Those cases will now likely fail because my spouse will no longer be the "expert witness". Lowe's apparently doesn't care about that, either.
My spouse's reward for all this fine work? No job. To hades with Lowe's.
Risk level has so much more involved than just shrink results. That is actually a very small part of it. A few things that impact risk level: 1.) Crime within a certain vicinity of the store is a factor. 2.). How close stores are to major highways/interstates comes into play. 3.). Theft numbers. 4.). Theft at other retailer within a certain vicinity. 5.) Population statistics.
When risk levels were really being determined, store LP used to be required to enter murders, robberies, d--g related arrests, assaults, etc that happened within a certain radius of the store into a Lowes system.
For those who assume it’s based strictly off the stolen account/shrink results, you couldn’t be more wrong.
You dont just lower a stores risk level by reducing shrink. High risk stores stay high risk stores even with good inventory numbers.
Yep, Inventory loss goes to increase shrink. Increase shrink leads to higher number rank. High number leads to retention of that LP.
Make perfect sense. Being bad at your job is how you keep it.
Let’s hear from the haters now. (Aka LP)
My opinion is that they wanted to USE the HRM one last time to get through spring hiring one last time. The ASA is not prepared to handle this yet and lowes hasn’t put new systems in place yet.
The smart LPM's still with Lowe's, in Level 5 and 6 stores, should understand that they got their "notice" as well: If you do a good job, and lower your store's risk level to 4, you are out of a job too.
Because HR makes the rules. Still better than the ASMs in 2017 who got zero notice and in some cases were called in on their day off just to get fired.
because they're using HR to carry out their dirty deeds one last time before they get laid off too.
