I haven't heard anything about layoffs today outside of what's been written here. Is this somebody's sad attempt at trolling or is something really happening?
Can we get any more info in addition to "it has started" and "I've been walked out," please? Unless, as I said, this is some kind of a sick joke.

What position did your good friend have in the company?
Yes. A good friend of mine was laid off 1/7/2019. Being let go would be a huge relief!! I am waiting to see if I am offered a severance. If not and I am left to continue my employment at UP, I will take my vacation, after I receive my bonus, and walk away.
There does not appear to have been any layoffs at UPC today (1/7/19).
Management in sh--cago said the cuts were pushed back to the 15th
