Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

People Deal

I was LR'ed in 2016. Does Cisco still have that so called 'People Deal'? What a joke that was and Cisco tried to spin it like it was to the employees' advantage.

Well done @vzg You nailed it. Been gone 2 1/2 years and I can say I've lived more than the 17 years I was at Crisco. One thing I can thank Crisco for is opening my eyes wide to what is important in life. And that most assuredly isn't working there.

Regardless of the part of the world we each live in, what age each of us are, or what ethnicity we are; the vast majority of the people here reading these threads have one thing in common. We are consumable human capital resources for a giant machine, and 99.9% of us reading this aren't part of any special executive perk popularity club for this company. If you can ground yourself, balance doing the work, without selling the soul to who you really are, and not take this big Cisco game too seriously, and be accepting that no matter how much effort you put in; your time to LR-go could be any time and unwarranted, you'll be fine. If you get up every day, worry about your performance, worry that you aren't kissing butt just the right way to make that special Cisco cross-functional management synergy; you'll some year have a day where you wake up after your LR and wonder why you just wasted the past good years of your life chasing nothing but a few extra dollars. It's your life, your Cisco poker hand, and your decision where you go from here.

the CTO of Jasper put up a post of linkedin 4 days saying he is leaving cisco and wishing his team well.

the kind of people who can really build cos and execute are getting very rare in csco these days.

I quit in 2016, and I check back here occasionally to see how things are going. All I can say is, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Cisco's executive team still can't seem to execute their way out of a wet paper bag.

Of course we have the People Deal, it’s Fran’s claim to fame. Yes, HR’s there for you.
