Gotta say after spending 20 years railroading...craft and manager side....Those Mso's are worth every penny!! Keep up the Great work Mso's. I believe Mso's will be around for quite a while longer...no doubt about that.

I am tired of MSO's considering themselves of a craft. A craft means a skill. All MSO's are unskilled labor that belong to a union. Being in a union does not mean you are a craftsman.

There is buy outs at proviso due to all crafts except mso craft have young bloods other crafts have old bloods ready to retire that why they have buy outs they can’t tell if they have a tool or a burger flipper give them a burger flipper !!!!! There's always one. Usually the one we find hiding servicing or hostling engines lmao. We know majority of you guys appreciate us, our work, and want to see us move up to apprentices if we choose. Although I am a little worried the one poster knows what toilet chemical smells like and the effects... shouldn't smell it with ppe and just pouring it in. Gross.

Spoken like a true craft person who's busy hiding in the car, locker room, or a cab when not leaning on a toolbox or track gate to be seen and signs off worked ones or tasks that aren't actually done for the bare minimum in ilp hours. If you were actually around a shop doing your job you'd have some more respect for an mso and see they're a craft like the rest of us.
I highly doubt mso will be gone. Too many shops I've heard so many crafts say they'd purposely derail engines so they don't have to move. Always hear it was a god send when they took moving away from other crafts. Besides.... good luck getting machinist, electrical, sheetmetal, or crews to pick up cabs or dump sh--ters.... mso is the most underpaid but most highly needed. Tracks don't get spotted, jobs don't get built, engines aren't serviced and clean nobody else is gonna have a job to do let alone have a viable job crafts to management.
