Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Team movement to TSPD

It was officially announced today that TSPD "won" the budget and teams will be moving there. What was not said is that this was complete surprise for the affected teams both long and short term.

Rumor says that around 150 popeple was moved without any earlier notice. In one of the teams entire message sounded like "you should be happy that you still have job". You couldn't pick new tem nor could do that future team.

Even though new team and work there might be better in the long run and entire proposal sounds resenable.

Thing was communicated in such bad way that morale of the team dramatically went down.

People were treated as resource that can be moved without any respect to their feelings. Some of the those are saying that they felt equally to being fired.

To bad that no one (still) didn't learn how to properly communicate such changes.

Oh don't worry. At layoff time Sabre will get rid of people regardless of where they want to be. Keep up the good job!

Agree with @WtZgsR4-qcy

I just hope we continue to get rid of people who do not want to stay at Sabre. If you all have the answers and key to success, go find some other job. What are you doing wasting your time and energy here?!

It's an interesting career question:

a) If you stay in the "old" products you will have little to no budget for development. You will be in an eternal "maintenance" mode. Luckily. if you are not in Delivery or MSM you will not hear customers yelling at you. There are products that even without budget can't be retired. So you'll have at least one or two years of peace and calm to learn some skills and find another job.

b) If you move to PTSD (sorry, couldn't help the joke) you'll have the budget. But also you'll be at the mercy of unrealistic promises made to execs and customers. You'll have very tight deadlines and no hope that what you are doing will have any success in the market or that the slaving out will have an end. You'll be bossed around by the same id--ts who keep sinking the company. You may have the job for longer, but may not be worth it.

Too bad we didn't get to have an opinion on how to be unhappy

I actually wish they would have asked for volunteers. I was not affected, but would have “skipped and ran” to the new role if given the opportunity.

You are right, it’s very strange how things are approached.

What an opportunity for these people. I wish I was that unfortunate to learn new things and gain skills.
