Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Need An Insider Opinion

I was offered a position with Windstream. I was extended a formal written offer. I passed my background and d--g screen over a week ago. The HR recruiter called me today and stated that the position has been eliminated. The recruiter was uncomfortable with answering the questions I asked and said she had to go. Shirts had been already ordered. I do not currently work for WS. Truth based on experience? Please advise.

Give thanks you weren't brought on board. Go ahead and breath a sigh of relief, then send out your resume to companies that actually treat their employees with class.

By moving to mexico or india you can also do a half assed job, still get paid, and someone state side will clean up after you on a daily basis because there is no recourse for doing a sh--ty job. You get paid whether you do the work or I do. So in reality Win is paying 2 people to do the same job but only 1 of us has to do it right or get penalized. Outsourcing....another great idea

"move to Mexico or India"

You will get nearly the same benefits as the WIN U.S. workers

If you really must work at Windstream, move to Mexico or India, I hear Windstream is hiring people in those countries

Windstream’s financial picture is in trouble and as I have heard, many positions are either on hold or have been eliminated....trying to end the 4th quarter on a positive note. Being a former employee who left on my own, I would advise to look elsewhere for employment. Employee morale is at its lowest and many existing employees are just there for the $$$. If you want a employer who truly values their employees, Windstream is not the place! Poorly ran company and their future is uncertain!

This has happened in other places... the heads apparently don’t talk to the hands. I wouldn’t work here unless my other option was unemployment...

It happens a lot. I work in offline processing, and have applied out a lot. Positions get cancelled all the time. I interviewed for one, thought everything went great, and then was told the position was eliminated. Maybe this was perhaps a blessing in disguise for you. Sometimes when one door closes another one opens. Windstream is a great company, but not as good as it used to be. The benefits are horrible, and their retirement s---s unless your a top tier executive VP. No pension plan like there used to be. Just apply again. You may want to call again for a more detailed answer. If you are unsatisfied, ask them for their working with integrity number. If they don’t give it to you, it is on Glassdoor.
