What are T-rates and D-rates?

Can someone please explain what T-rates and D-rates are? I'm guessing it is something union related, based on the context clues, but I'm not sure I understand the differences.

2 different payscales, voted in by one group, accepted by the other, that is now being used by the company to destroy the union. If you don't believe me, read all the posts with "301" in them. The company wins.

It put a cut off the t rates were not employees of ge at the time of the change. It’s a common practice look at the state and ups all have done this. The t rates didn’t loose anything they weren’t employees, in fact they wouldn’t have a job here if it wasn’t for the change.

So it sounds to me like the union workers were getting way overpaid (shocker!) and when the company called out the union on this, instead of coming up with a plan that affected all the union members equally, it screwed over the new ones and kept the older ones fat and happy. Unions are really the joke that most of us think they are. The proof is right here!

It's only at very few places.

T rates did have the opportunity to make up the wage difference if they were skilled. Unskilled Labor deserves unskilled pay.

The T rates that wanted to better themselves were able to get a skilled trade after that increased their pay significantly, as much as $8 an hour in some cases. So 99% of the whining on this site is from non-skilled, and apparently non motivated T rates that excepted a job, then started complaining about having one.

When the union and company agreed to the lower pay scale(trates), the company had to seriously relax their hiring standards in order to get people to come and work there.

The company threatened to close shop unless the union made concessions. Took away the pension, dropped the pay to $10 less an hour and raised healthcare. 2015 contract was focused on the membership with 10 years or less to retire and beefed up their pension. The t rates got higher healthcare cost with less wage increases. From 2015-current every year on 40 hours I brought home less a week. The Place Is A Joke. So to answer your question it called a split pay scale to protect the legacy rate members. Now we have a new job code system in the companies favor to do more for less like always. This system is broken.

T-rates and D-rates are groups people that one or two posters like to LARP for attention. You'd think it's 1/3 of GE that's wrapped up in it but it's only a very, very small fraction.
