If the message dated before Christmas, there is nothing to worry about. If it is dated between Christmas and the new year it is neither good nor bad but if it is dated after the new year, it is worrisome and if there is no message at all, then themselves don't know what is ahead.
A good thing about CGG, they don't layoff people around Christmas and New Year. However, the CEO will take this opportunity to send an end of year message to all employees, to thank them for their great contribution to the company ... etc. Following few nice words the tone of the message will shift 180 degrees to talk about the difficulties and the financial hardship they are experiencing. If you read between the lines terms like 'restructuring', 'downsizing', 'reorganizing' , 'rebalancing', synenergy', 'streamlining', 'light assets'. The CEO hints that massive layoffs ahead and in this case it is time to brace yourself..

Crawley HR and management discovered a novel approach to making their mediocre performance look impressive.
By removing experience and hard workers, or encouraging these employees to leave, they could bring down the whole units performance down to their level!
Surely there isn't any "low performing " employees left outside the HR department???
It's true!!
some managers got the email about managing out low performance employee
Better to prepare now
Unless you're on the top management team or the board, no one who responds here will be able to answer this definitively.
Once a decision has been made, maybe you can see the signals through the actions of your business lines' HR/ local HR/ union (assuming something leaks through). By that time, if your name is on the list, it's too late to do anything about it.
Regardless, given how the share price is going, it's always best to prepare for worst but hope for the best.
