Has there been anything new on layoffs that are supposed to happen in two days? It was said a while ago that around 700 people will be laid off, but there has been little mention of it since.
I'm starting to hope it was just a rumor that fizzled out and there will be no layoffs at least before next year.
ok, again... the company could replace the entire management team and outsource half the company yet that still won’t make up for declining revenue, impending debt, and a shift in technology and business model. there might be raises again someday, but i would venture to say those raises would go to the remaining employees of a much smaller company headcount wise.
WE executive management/whatever they are called these days - doesn't need all those clueless people on top soaking up all that money that could go and be used for paying employees a 'raise' (they do exist outside the boardroom), and outsourcing up to 80% of the executive team and replacing them with just as competent people from India or the Philippines will be a better option for the company.
Even outsourcing the CEO has to be considered because the stock has dropped so far on his watch....and you can't say 'it is happening everywhere in telecom' - everywhere there are bloated executive teams.... but you don't see Cincinnati Bell having as many problems as WE - and they are also in the telecom industry....
GM just laid off 15% of their workforce ——- the reason is they will shift from sedans to larger vehicles with less production and higher margins. this will mean less plants and less people. you can’t keep paying people if you’re intentionally lowering production. it’s called profit margin. they can blame management all they want, but costs must be cut if the business model is changing. if you want to pay people for twiddling their thumbs all day, god speed.
this should sound familiar.
and GM is actually doing WELL
who knows if a layoff is happening thursday. if this one passes over you you’ll just keep coming here waiting for rumors of the next one while you pop another xany.
