Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Maybe a little consideration for the employees

You cannot compare retail to first responders, seriously ? How about Macy’s shows a little consideration for their employees and have them enjoy Thanksgiving with their families. And, no, the customers that came in on Thanksgiving we’re only interested in what they deemed to be “free”. Macy’s opens on Thanksgiving because they are greedy. Many customers who came in on Black Friday were saying they think it is awful we opened on the Holiday.

@Wkafvlp-1pro said it right. Decided to repost this.

Customers always says it is awful that we are open on Thanksgiving....yet there they are shopping which is ironic....stores would not be open if they stayed home.

Well in my store a handful picked up thanksgiving shifts. The rest of us were harassed on a daily basis all day to pick a shift. I’d call it forced. If we were smart and stood united by not picking shifts even when pressured to do so, we would be with our families. And those who tell us to stop complaining can work their little hearts out!!! Win win for everyone.

Not sure what store you work at but in my store, Colleagues were not “forced” to work. If you wanted a shift on Thanksgiving, then you picked it up. No one was scheduled against their will. Additionally, the company would be open if their weren’t customers to shop.

Oh so awful. Grow up. Buck up and stop complaining. You have a job! Don't like it, quit.

Retail is changing, for sure. That doesn’t change the fact that Macy’s is greedy and doesn’t think about their employees. And opening Thanksgiving is still awful.

In reading this post, I have to ask why you are in retail? People did shop in mass on Thanksgiving, in all departments. Sales were great! I do not believe it is greed, it is an opportunity to meet the customer demand. Face it, retail is changing. Perhaps you might find it necessary to change jobs if you can not adapt to the change. Does no good to complain. Wasted energy.
