Oilfield services companies that are small are where it’s at. In a small company nobody stands around watching you do the work. In a big company there are too many people that have no skills trying to tell the skilled people what to do. There was big money in this business back in the day and it made unskilled id--ts feel important. If an ahole does nothing but tell you what to do, they aren’t needed. Call them out on it.

Well the way it works in Canada majority of guys that have no skills and the least amount of work ethic or as usually were a buddy of a buddy and were promoted into management or senior positions and the people that had the skills and qualifications were either let go or demoted. And with the current management mentality they look out for themselves throw everybody else under the bus to salvage their job. When the axe gets sharpened again the excessive amount of useless managers that continue to drag this company down will be saved and the workers that actually make a difference will be the ones kicked to the curb. And lets not forget the over paid and no accountability sales group that continue to get paid a good wage and quite a few add no value to the business and have little to no technical skills to support the products we sell.
Hey the only thing whether it’s a small or big company is watch your back and backstab anyone who gets in your way. It’s the only way as it’s dog eat dog in the modern day work place.
Have you worked at many small oilfield service companies?
Have you worked at many big oilfield service companies?
Both have their pros and cons.
There is good and bad at each.
If you think friends and family are favored at big companies (yes at some), then your eyes will get opened wide at the small company because it's all about family there!
