So tired of everyone complaining on this site . You are well paid and privileged compared to a lot of retailers . I worked in target , Home Depot , Walmart , Lowe’s and no dept managers are making $25-$37 a hour ( average is $18-$22). Team members making average $18 plus and you guys are Complaining . I know someone working for amazon and if you don’t know everything is monitored / measured . Everything you do is timed and you must account for all your time otherwise you will be written up for productivity . To work not directly for amazon you should be privileged and need to stfu and stop complaining . There plenty of people who would appreciate your job right now , so be thankful for it and stfu

I quit due to OTS and mis-management and etc etc etc... BUT. You can't really complain about working food holidays when you work in a grocery store! Same as working weekends. It's like a bartender getting pi$$y that they have to work a Friday night. I get the work life balance thing but know your audience. If your job is to sell food, be there when food is being sold or quit. Just seems a goofy thing to be surprised or upset by.

It’s DOUBLE TIME PAY and stores that operate well always post a sign up sheet for TMS to volunteer. And.....typically store hours are reduced and teams don’t open at 100% regarding their venues. All RM region stores I’ve worked closed at 2 pm. If it’s illegal in your state then good for you, but you s--- as a person. If you don’t like it, leave the industry. Side note.......I left after 2 decades of being with the company and never having a thanksgiving off or any other holiday off. I’m smiling ear to ear and happy. But.....thank you to everyone in this industry for working odd hours and pushing forward. I miss the team work but enjoy some family time now. So.....happy holidaze people. Focus on the positives.

It isnt a lie. Perhaps you are confusing federal and state laws. For the 4 years i did the cash stuff, i worked on thanksgiving day 8-12. Paid doube time. Aso companirmes that open are only required yo pay 1.5x in TX...2X is a discretional option. I always took advantage of double time thxgvg bc my fam does not celebrate it as a 'holiday'

If you have a title it isn't optional. I was a buyer then atl then TL and worked every single holiday for 8 years. So glad I got out.

Honest to God, I had a customer tell me it was a real shame I had to work Thanksgiving, as they were in the store, shopping on Thanksgiving. The lack of awareness in customers is astounding sometimes.

It is individual state law--those that still acknowledge blue laws--and one of the joys of working for the store that I do. It's also pretty great telling customers that its state law when they begin to complain that we aren't open.

team members obr way too much and then complain about it when their horse get cut and pased on to others when their check comes up short!

give them their obr and hire more part time and cut their hours!

it depends on the region or city you are in.

here it’s all volunteers and tl’s can’t work unless team members sign up.

team member double time before tl doubletime let’s them earn more to take home !

Maybe it is illegal to be open where you live, but not where I live. Stores in the SW Region are open from 7am-4pm on Thanksgiving. They do put sign ups up, but if not enough people sign up, you get scheduled. I am off this year and I am thrilled!

As much as I dislike Whole Foods at this point ...thanksgiving has always been optional. I’ve been here almost 5 years.

Not defending anything really, but it's not mandatory to work it. They have sign-up sheets and you get paid double-time... I'd work the open-close on that day...
