Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Masking Layoffs with hirings

I find it disgusting how this story with the company is playing out. Pushing the mass hirings in the media, while at the same time laying current employees left and right. What’s even more insulting is that seasonal hiring was a regular practice for years and now they are portraiting it as something significant. I understand that a company needs to cut cost, restructure, or whatever, but doing it in such a perfidious way is not something that the longtime workers deserved. The same workers that gave their hearts and souls to the company. Shame on the leadership.

The news makes no mention of the layoffs let alone how many were layed off. Is that just my “perception”? All I see is the program is done, sorry to those affected. I find that deceitful and insensitive.

This is the time of year they always announce plans for better or worse. The annoying part is they always grossly overstate how many people they're looking to hire which is also way more than they actually hire. People don't exactly beat down the doors for a minimum wage job that is looking for open availability and is constantly removing channels and opportunities for career growth

The original poster is spot on. The timing and working of the press release was designed to cover up for the mass layoffs on Friday. It was NOT a coincidence. Anyone who thinks it was is quite naive.

Rather than focusing on a negative spin of the restructuring perhaps you should view it as positive. The release was not a misstatement. Your perception of the news is negative. The release presented the data - how each individual views the data cannot be controlled as it is YOUR perception of the data.
