Rumor mill is that layoffs will now be pushed back to February, so I wouldn't worry about January right now.
Is this true? It would certainly make me feel better if it was.

Lay offs started proviso got hit with 5
There just moving employees around maybe to other states or yards no lay offs
Jan. (week of the 8th) still on schedule. Then there will be even larger numbers coming in Feb. as well. The reprieve in Jan. was incorrect. That there will be more layoffs in Feb. was pretty spot on.

Look at the news today. Operating ratio is to high.
There is some discussion that there could be some legal reprocussions if employees are laid off before the annual UP Christmas (Bonus time) in the first week of February.
Either way, there will be a lot of us losing our jobs and livelihoods soon.

I can verify one AVP has called people letting them know their job is safe but to hold on tight for the bumpy ride.
