Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

How the slb will be in 2019 ?

  • Better or worse than 2018 ?

  • More layoff or no more layoff ?

  • Better working environment or gets worse ?

  • How slb will keep or increases its market share ?

Unfortunately there will be some layoffs if the oil price trend continues. Should not be as bad as 2018 though.

People in the field are very busy. I would see more layoffs in offices (likely in the US) rather than in the field.

International market is recovering little by little. US market is now heading south.

Resources are shifted to the international market.

The irony is that slb continue to pay dividend by divesting assets (or segments) rather than pay its debt. Current Debt/Value ratio is unsustainable... Hopefully SLB is not heading to the same direction as GE or WFT.

We can hope that OPEC will decrease production to make room for US oil in the market and save big Blue.

Have a good year. Feliz año nuevo. Bonne Annee.

Plenty of low performing managers left at SHTC STONEHOUSE U.K.

No positive contribution is made by them at all, yet they remain unchallenged, over paid and seemingly unnoticed outside of this tech centre.

Poor management, with very low moral and an uncertain future for this centre continue into 2019 and beyond. Cutting more staff will not solve the problem although that's what will probably happen, this company cannot survive long term without a major cultural change which can only come from the top down, very sad too see this on a daily basis now.

2019 will be a total disaster. With shrinking capex and budgets in the general industry, it will only get worse. ROI's for the big OFS companies are to low or even in the red. They will go after benefits, pensions, etc. and start the spin-offs soon after the next results. If you still don't have a plan B...

I wont mind layoffs if they go after the low performers on certain mgmt teams that are bringing the company down. If they dont do this then our efficiency will keep getting worse and the company will go under. Surprisingly there are worthless people who survived all the layoffs so far. Makes no sense.

But... I hope they are done with the good workers who are working their asses off. You get rid of these people and the company's efficiency will also get worse.
