New Attendance Policy

So has anyone heard anymore news on the new attendance policy starting in end of Jan?

As of now I know Monday-Thursday 1 point, Friday-Sunday 2 points, Holidays 3-4 points. Only 5 point system now then termination. 2 points for New Hires in 6 months. Points to be reset to 0 im guessing

I honestly fill like that Walmart need to change this point system cause it’s really bs. 5 points and it rolls off every 6 months at least let it roll off every 3 months. But this stupid point system just shows that they really don’t want to see nobody make it

FMLA approves leaves are exempt from attendance policy. Depending on type of leave determines if you are paid or not

Store Manager has reset a few Dept Managers and associates points 2 or 3 times. They should have been terminated at 5 points the first time. Playing Favorites !!! One associate reached 5 points and was terminated right away. The whole store knows the Store Manager has done this and keeps his favorites. How about an ASM screwing somebody they are incharge of the SM knows it and other associates know it but the ASM doesnt get terminated. Wait ago Walmart for not Enforcing serious Ethical Issues

A shining example of how greedy and incompetent this company is!

Other company's pay double or triple time for working holidays and don't have these problems!

Why would I show up on Thanksgiving and New Years for my normal c-appy pay??

I went down to 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Screw that new system, it's a bunch of sh-- and i got another job so i didn't have to deal with 5 days at that place. I used to like it there until it turned into subhuman slavery and benefits and time off are being stripped away more and more every year pfft..

If youcall out on Saturday and it counts as two points and then you use your Protected time. Will it be for one day that you took off or two days to cover ht day.?

What?? Holiday pay for working holidays? Unheard of! Walmart is to busy trying to save a buck to offer a competitive benefits package. All the good employees will continue to leave and Walmart will be the next Sears all because of greed and the never ending push to save the shareholders (Waltons) a buck...

I only state that if they want to charge 2 days for calling off on a holiday then they should give the people who work the holiday 2 days worth of pay.

And no pppto up front so it'll be nearly impossible to build up. About the time you have enough to cover a day you'll need to use it and be right back down to nothing. They could have at least turned our stolen sick time into PPTO, at least that's what any ethical company would do...

The new system s---s.you can’t get sick.they don’t accept dr.excuses you have to be in the hospital to be excused.5 acurrences well 4 in a rolling six month period cause 5and your out is not fair.i guess you are supposed to go to work sick and get everyone else sick. They change your schedule with out telling you messing plans.

If you miss work under FMLA or have intermittent leave accommodation under the ADA, your absences canNOT be held against you, per Federal regulations.

If you have intermittent leave accommodation under the ADA, your absence cannot be counted against you for the "perfect attendance" reward on the Myshare. Check out the laws yourself

How many points for calling out on a Saturday?

I have been with Walmart part time for two years in April. I used 32 hours of pro that I had accumulated over the past two years for a family medical emergency. Policy changed and niw I have 6 hours of pro that carries over but the new policy says I can not acquire any regular pro for another year. Pro begins to acquire at year 3! I can acquire protected pro at one hour for every 43.3 hours worked. In that instance it will take about 4 months to acquire 1 day of protectedpto. Lord help me should I get sick! What if it is on a “special” day! I am looking forward to the fact I have no chance of keeping this job if something happens, I get sick, I check into work a couple of days 10 or 15 minutes early or something awful occurs and I cannot come to work- I do not abuse time off but now I am frightened for anything that may go wrong g in the next year.

so if you get the flu on a weekend you are history. My regular doctor isn't open to see me or certify that I'm ill, and a walk in clinic doesn't do paperwork for a Sedgwick loa. wow. just.. wow.

Guess I need to find a way to be a s---up to have my attendance cleared like others do..

while I do not have an attendance issue, others that I see calling out on a regular basis have no points.

I also think this is ridiculous. I'm on intermittent leave atm (I can miss 2 days per week and 1/2 day once per month) because I have cancer. There are times when I HAVE to take those days...especially right after treatment. It used to be at 5 points, though. This 9 point system is new this year so I don't see them changing it again and to be so extreme with counting extra points for weekends and holidays. We just had a department manager fired because of points she didn't realize she had and it is up to the associate to know how many points they have. If you are sick get a hold of Sedgewick and set up your leave and take the days you need off. You can do the same if a family member is sick. 9 points in 6 months is more than fair considering it used to be 3 points fired at 4 but then when that was relevant we also got time and a half for holidays and those that were grandfathered in also got paid time and a half on Sundays (they took that away, too].

Think about this, how is this fair? You have DM and people that doesn’t work weekends so therefore they will never get any points. Now, if this is true all it’s gonna hurt are the people that doesn’t have availability!!

People call in (off?) sick on holidays and are protected at the stores?? Wish it worked that way at the DC, we call in sick on a holiday and are punished with a step per day. Protected on holidays? Why would anyone show up to work for their normal c-appy pay if that's the case?

@5dcj: this is so true at our store too. Depends on who you are & whose butts you kiss. If you're in tight with an ASM or someone in personnel, your occurrences get "deleted". I was forced to resign, so any referrals for a new job would say I was rehireable & had resigned.

Really people? Its not the attendance, but for the repeat offenders it is, its about the rocket scientist who decided to cut hours and give half the shift all on the same days. Its not about working holidays-- people are going to call off and still be protected. Its about the workers working and the id--ts who dont want to work doing nothing

Same attendance policy should apply to managers. All the assistants are late daily and the store manager comes and goes as he pleases. Great job of setting an example for us hourly peons! 👍

@5dcj you are absolutley right! Same thing happens in my store. Our pick up DM calls in every week yet has no occurances. Shes only been there a few years so she cant have much pto. They just fired 2 people the Friday before Christmas (merry friggin Christmas!) for too many occurances yet shes still working. Some people put in pto and then have to fight to get the occurance cleared. Some are never given an occurance when they call in. Something needs to change!!

They need to pay some sort of holiday pay on major holidays so people WANT to show up! This isn't a difficult concept to grasp, but the clowns running this company just don't get it

They need to fix the issue of managers fixing point for the ones they like, we have associates in my store with 20/30 and even 50 points. You have one manager that fires at 9 and then the associate can get reinstated because others have more point then they have. The point system isn’t the fix they need

How bout paying more than the normal 11 bucks an hour on major holidays, ya know, so people have a reason to show up? Nah that couldn't possibly work even tho its what every other company does... The people pulling the strings at this company are SO smart!

I know no retailer at all that pays extra for working holidays. If you do, please name them so I can put in an application.

I do think the 5 pts system is ridiculous and possibly illegal.

People are continue to miss work are not fulfilling the needs of the customers or supporting their fellow associates. If they regularly miss weekends and holidays which are the busiest days for customer traffic that is even more impactful this will count more as far as attendance goes. It only makes sense.

It’s about being at work when the customers are there. If your not then your not in the right line of work. It also supports the associates who do come to work when they are scheduled.

No law needed, if the policy is not to your liking then work elsewhere.
