Engineering department is greedy. They want production gangs to exceed goal but yet offer no incentive. Constant threats of being cut off if goals aren’t exceeded is their way of achieving what they want.

News flash!!! It’s not working anymore. Cut every gang off who cares. You want production, we want more time off and production bonuses!!!

You get a bonus because of our hard work. Not anymore!!

We can make you look good or look bad. Cards are in our hands not yours. All we have to do is our job safely.

Big talk. Sounds good till you lose your job and have to find another that pays this well.

Be honest if you have a better option you would be gone.

Truth is this is the best you can do with your education.

Oh we are VERY motivated. But....when you treat people like a common dog on the street rummaging thru trash in the alley -- they typically don't respond in a cooperative and productive way. Leading with intimidation and threats DOES NOT WORK!! Someday maybe UP will understand what REAL Leadership is. Maybe Some Day.

I feel sorry for the engineering department in your company. It is not enjoyable trying to motivate unmotivated union employees who believe that they have "earned" the right to do little or noting. It is these employees who give unions a bad name and it is an indication that a company need to clean house.
