Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

I feel bad for those left

I came back here for fun after being let go a few years ago. I would say I feel bad for the amount of apparent bitter, hate still here. I look at other O&G operators and see nowhere near the level animosity, hate and discontent on similar "layoff" boards.

The 3 going on 4 years of layoffs, downsizing and empty promises from management surely contribute to the depth of cynicism on this board BUT employees must find a way forward if the company is to survive. If you all truly hate the company that much, just leave -- I assure you there are greener pastures out there.

I hope all who are left at COP are able to find a happy way forward because having this much hate and discontent is not a way to live life.

Just to balance things a bit. I am a current employee and absolutely love my job. I am challenged daily. I succeed daily. Making more money than I thought I would at this point in my career. Working high profile projects. Going on my third year of exceptional ratings. Getting higher than average raises, good bonuses. My job satisfaction is off the charts.

Im sure there will be bitter a**holes that will call me a brownnoser and all that, but I just put in hard work every day and produce superior results.

Good work ethic and good values produce good results for me personally and for the company as a result of my work.

Im not saying what folks post here about a toxic work environment doesn't exist in some areas, but it simply isn't my experience or anywhere in our business unit as far as I can tell.

My experience is you get out what you put in. I do see some miserable people but those are usually the ones with poor work ethic, poor general attitude, and produce poor results.

I just want people to know that my experience and the experience of all my team members is this is a great place to work.

I am paid way higher than industry standard for my job, I get twice the retirement I would anywhere else with average ratings at the end of the year. With the exceptional ratings I have been getting, its actually 3x retirement of other places. Tons of vacation time.

If you have a good manager, good teammates, and you are a hard worker, this place is an amazing place to work.

For those about to hate on me, I dont really care because I am happy and will be laughing my way to the bank!

The “dishonesty, incompetence, narcissism, and nepotism” is unfortunately not only in Lower 48 leadership.

The rot goes to the very top, sadly. It’s why so many current and former employees are angry and bitter and post their frustrations here.

Fundamentally, there is a longstanding leadership problem in lower 48. It has been posted here over and over and over. It is rooted in dishonesty, incompetence, narcissism, and nepotism.

Good point, I was actually going to write a similar post. There seem to be either a small number of unhappy people who post over and over, or COP is a pretty sh--ty place to work.
