What's the point of a 2?

I don’t understand why everyone is always so hung up on getting a 2. Every year that I have been ranked a 2 has been followed a year of horror. Extra work for no extra pay, and constantly shoved into new garbage places with garbage hours, and threatened with my job for not being Johnny-On-the-Spot for having perfect numbers 30 minutes into the job.The bonuses and raises were not much different than when the rating was the 3.

Up's rating system has long been worthless.

Lets not forget, beth, cameron, eric etc were all determining your raking from afar. Your direct manager had no impact on your final number. You were toiling for nothing. I sat on many sham rankings meeting where as peers wed determine ranks, only to be totally overruled when it came time to present the tpt. Then, bizarre bonuses and raises that did not match any degree of performace started to be awarded. Id been ranked a 2 a couple times in 10 years only to see subordinate employees get hired in for more money at a lower band with double the bonus for half the performance.

Again, one of the many things at up that is a total joke. Lets not forget, theyd never fire a 4 or 5....

"Scorecards" and "Performance Ratings" are both HOGWASH. It's a tool to drum out people who won't go along with the whims of our misguided (so called) Leaders. These tools are one of the most destructive mechanisms in corporate environments these days. Numbers are constantly manipulated and shell games to conceal bad decisions and/or bad performance. Pure Hogwash.

Agree. I’ve gotten 2’s for 2 of my 6 years at UP and my raises and bonuses have not been more during the “2” years, compared to the “3” years. In fact my bonus last year was the highest its ever been and that was a “3” year. It’s a pointless rating system and I’ve stopped caring as long as I’m not a 4 or 5.
