heard Doug announced in a meeting that WM was no longer and should not be planned on being a career job as it had been in the past. Sounds like loyalty is one way. Wake up.

I feel like this is common knowledge. Who didn’t get this message from all the layoffs?
Fact is that Walmart USE TO BE a company that you could have a long-term career & retire from. It wa unique in the sense that not many (if any) had this loyalty from their Employees who wanted to make a career of it. If this statement was made....btw only company DM has ever worked for...then interesting to be this short sided. But guess that’s what all the high paid consultants have scripted for him. Sad.
Doug vs CEOs of Amazon/Google/Microsoft/Baba. It is no match. Major change is needed at the top to survive in the new environment. People are the key and this is where WM is so wrong today.
I think we all can agree that retail should never have been a long term career option. The real issue here is that Walmart has somehow amassed into this country's largest job provider----I mean, you don't really need to take a poll to know that virtually every 'associate' would far rather be working somewhere else.
But those jobs largely don't exist any more.
So now we're facing a very real national threat of A LOT of unemployed folks in this country, and that's a reality that can't be ignored, and I don't know what the answers are going to be, but it's not enough for arrogant, I'm-in-college/living-in-mommy's-house/I'm-a-top-exectutive-making-70K-per-year types to keep chanting their monotonous Walmart management incantation of
'THEY NEED TO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO.......THEY NEED TO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GO.....THEY NEED TO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO ......'
I worked for Walmart for over 10 years. I was loyal in only shopping at Walmart. Now I will do whatever it takes to shop elsewhere. I will tell family and friends to do the same.
No retail job is a career option any more.
Shouldn’t trust anything leaders say at Walmart ....anymore
What meeting?
Sounds about right..all they want is part time how can you make a lifetime career if you are part time?
Really
