Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

January 10th Speculations

New year new layoffs. Office rumors and rampant speculation has pegged Jan 10th the first pay period of the new year as a layoff day. There is also some rumors bring tossed around about possible reorganization for some groups or that the middle management director/ VP level changing of the guard. Which sounds more like playing musical chairs on the deck of the Titanic.

Thoughts, hearsay, speculation, or BS?

1st quarter is over on 4/1. I would imagine shortly before or after when they see how things are going to look going forward. That $330 Million should get us through this quarter.

The CIO was an Alltel reject that was canned when W was spun off. He's getting out while the getting is good, much like the VP of IT just prior to when the outsourcing of Corporate IT to IBM was being negotiated.

@WPHU3wi-2dxp who is left to lay off?

Every one without the title consultant, principal, director, vice president, executive.... They have some delusion that the company can operate, innovate, and grow if we just get a few more Excel jockeying - Tableau graph pukeing Mickey Mouse MBA id--ts to justify whatever BS scheme the VP has to save the company money, which they get returned as a performance bonus.... Company is totally boned. Get out if you will hurt without it, or have fun riding till the end.

Several jobs have been sent to India and Mexico already. Could there be layoffs in January? Who knows. All I know is that jobs ARE being outsourced to other Countries.

There will be IT layoffs. There were certain people kept to work certain high priority projects. Once those projects are finished those people will be let go.

"the CIO will be "retiring" in March after the Earthlink conversion"

That's why the stock went up today - there is a sliver of hope that more executives will 'retire' - including the CEO - and new leadership from top down can bring the company back with a better vision.

Wall Street is hoping there is some competent leadership there some day.

With all the comments about execs I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned that the CIO will be "retiring" in March after the Earthlink conversion. From what I understand he held a quick meeting announcing this recently.

All that is guaranteed is that there will be additional layoffs in the coming year. Just don't know when or where.

I doubt it. Although there’s a post about layoffs a few times a month so someone’s prediction comes true every now and then. Is a new ceo and board part of the rumors?
