Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

The grass is really greener on the other side

I left Pepsico after last years bonus. I was a unit manager that always performed near or at the top. I was under paid compared to my peers by 30k per year. I Left the organization and got a 100% pay increase for less responsibility and more perks.

Strongly encourage my remaining ex- teammates to throw your resume out there or hire someone to help you get an interview. PepsiCo Employees generally are the strongest interviewers on the open market. If you cut 1 million dollars out of a budget in the private sector you’re getting a Mercedes. If you do it at Pepsico they’re smashing on 10% next year and your reward is a glass mantelpiece.

Anyone notice a constant theme of passionate field employees getting huge promotions?

Meanwhile, bloated HQ people can’t find a job once they leave Pepsi? Most of the talent has always been in the field.

Corporate Darwinism.

I remember a few years ago having a candid discussion with Sr. Leadership around comp. Since then the org has lost about 80% of its talent due to wages being low. I never looked back.

I was an SDL and a Kam. Moved 5 times in 6 years. Wanted to stay in a major city. Org wanted me to move to a smaller town and get GM experience. I left for a job paying me 4x my salary with bonus. Post above hit it on the head. If you’re talented and can speak the business and perform get the hell out. I’m still close with a few peers who also left the organization. Each makes close to 2X the salary and perks outside pep are abundant.
