Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Is a January layoff likely, yes...is it 100% happening, no.

There was absolutely 100% a layoff planned for November. There was much infighting as there are actually managers who are fighting to keep their people. The reality of the situation is they were successful in buying 2 more months for their people.

This is company wide and anyone not on key projects are at risk. If you are thinking to yourself, am I on a key project? Then yes, you are at risk.

Look, everyone here is at risk everyday or we wouldn't be coming to these boards. Please do your due diligence and have your resume out on LinkedIn and be looking for jobs. I am doing the same. I am someone fighting for my people but even I am tired and weary from this constant barrage of bad news and negativity. I still have hope for this place but I am now open to other opportunities.

Is a January layoff likely, yes...is it 100% happening, no. We can repeat this every month.

Just do your best to prepare.

For the record...I’m a Sr Consultant and don’t make near 100k. I struggle just like everyone else, work insane hours and don’t get OT. Stop your whining!

Layoffs will have to happen, get yourself ready to make a move . WIN cannot continue to operate with a stock value of 60cents .

I think what you have to look at too is the positions being eliminated vs the positions not being eliminated. The positions being eliminated are the positions that do not need to be eliminated. I love my job at Windstream. My team is needed, as most teams are, but there are some people that are there to milk a paycheck. Like the guy who just post stuff on stream all day. Is his position really that important? Is it needed? We have seven other people who post too? Why does the company feel their job is needed while other people’s jobs are cut? That I have never gotten. I am not saying lay them off, but do the math. Stream updaters vs. project coordinators, stream updaters vs. financial analysts, or account managers, or BTAC. Who is more important?

It's just really frustrating watching a company who had potential just go to pot. Flat ran into the ground by id--t middle management trying to cut costs for bonuses and a executive team that is completely out of touch. It is just a real shame. Cutting core groups who need butts in chairs down to bare bones but hiring many consultants at 100k a pop to jockey Excel and tableau to spit out graphs to justify what ever c-ap idea they have that day to make them a little bit more on the bonus, I mean save the company cost...

There is a line between cutting costs and redundancies and hurting the operations of your business... We have crossed that line.. heck we blew past that line about two years ago. We are in the just make it work and blame the other guy and bail stage.
