Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Techs will continue to be looked over and screwed just like every other year

Let's hire all these new techs off the street. This will help even out the work load so we aren't so far behind (that's what we were told). But then, instead of helping to ease the work load, we'll just add more to the quota and expect the new hires, a week on their own, to keep up with a 25-30 yr senior tech.

Let's push to work more and more orders....remember, we are a growth company now! So let's make everyone work 6-7 days a week, even when times are slow.....need more completed orders to drive our numbers up for investors that have no faith in us. Oh yeah......let's make the work days 10-12 hrs, but we'll make sure managers go home at 5 everyday.

And to thank everybody for such long days, weeks, and all the other BS we want you to do now, we'll post "OUR" parties and happenings, just to rub it in some more, while you sorry tech's deal with the irate customers and everything else that the top of the chain screws up.

So keep wondering about your Christmas parties all you want. Us techs will continue to be looked over and screwed just like every other year. No thanks for a year of hard work, no Christmas lunch/dinner/whatever, no bonus...even if it was a gift card to Wally World. And if there is anything, it's last minute, and it's only if a local manager feels bad enough to take what techs are working that day (since a lot will be be out for end of year vacation) and aren't loaded to heavy. Workforce of 20+ but with vacations and workload, they might take 5-6 to lunch.

Just another way for WS to show how much they care about those in the field. If you don't sit behind a desk (exec's, managers, call centers, etc...) then who cares.

Excellent post by @WBjYnuj-7zim . He painted a good picture of how techs are treated.

Quit. Get a lawnmower and cut grass. Your attitude needs to leave and take your whining buddies with you. Use your tip and ring skills at Wally World.

Interesting read. Many techs not worth a plug nickel. Not all but as an ex director saw firsthand techs who refused to go to training, couldn't or wouldn't get up a pole due to their age and couldn't trouble shoot cable issues using their test sets. Heaven forbid if you tried to help them because it was run to the Union. Never had those issues with the non ILEC techs. Great folks who did everything and more. Sad for everyone. Leadership lacking at the top and techs not investing themselves. Hard to succeed but wish everyone success but may be time for others to move on as I did.

Last I checked most field techs are raking in $100k with all the OT. While I don’t disagree that they’re overworked or that we truly need more manpower to support such a “growth company” - I highly disagree with the complaints here. You’re paid to do a job. Paid well actually. And if you’re so hellbent on making sure you and your team feel the love, feel free to dig into your wallet to fund it. It’s not a requirement to give token gifts or throw holiday parties. It’s nice and makes you get the warm and fuzzies, but for a company trying to keep its doors open for the few that still work here (that are overworked AND underpaid) I think I’m ok with not having a party and not being mad about it.

"I’ve been with the company many years and not ince have I seen a Christmas party or anything resembling a token gift"

Companies that care about their employees will make an effort to say thanks. Catering a lunch or something similar is a small drop in the budget, especially with all the perks the Little Rock Zombies get for creating the WIN value-stock price. There are a lot of teams out there, but they can do it if they wanted.

Are you kidding? I’ve been with the company many years and not ince have I seen a Christmas party or anything resembling a token gift. Get over yourself. You might work a lot of hours, but at least get paid for them. The majority of us are working 60 hours in salary with no OT and no raises in 3 years. I have NO sympathy for you!
