Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

273 question?

So the next national and local contract for t rates IF we are here means we get a goose egg AGAIN. The union says they are fighting hard to get us something but I beg to differ. The company claims it is to save Schenectady. Well in my shoes I see the Schenectady plant closing. The way these newer managers are giving job assignments out like hamburgers. Managers leave left and right on their own and get replaced with clueless managers. Sad. But what’s next? Layoffs for t rates again? Plant closings? Another ridiculous contract in 2019 to favor the d rates again? The hall opens the local supplement for new job codes but do not open it to give the t rates a raise to cut the gap. We get higher healthcare costs and bring home less than we did 3 years ago. So the pattern from the past will show layoffs. A contract not worth the paper it’s written on and possibly a plant closing like the failed battery plant.

Not sure what an 'adder' is...but if it's a progression pay scale that's nothing uncommon. Union or nonunion. Randy what union is up there? Take a step back with a clear head and look at the big picture, you've clearly missed how the inhouse shell game is played.

IF your not in a job with an adder your unskilled Labor. Your making damn good money for not having any education or skills. So quit if you don’t like it. You were told the situation before you accepted the job. It was ok then and it isn’t now?

You shouldn't have to get a job with an adder to "catch up". There's something wrong with you if you belong to a union and that is your thought process. We we're supposed to support each other but that's the mindset of most in 273 me me me and Fcuk everyone else.

Get into a job code with an adder and you'll be much closer to your D example. There is also the option of leaving at any time.

All the pension issues and healthcare costs are worked out at the big tables...your local reps, unless included in national talks, having nothing to do with it. They can try negotiating pay rate increases within your plant with your management team. Thats about all. You only have 1 contact, are you reading the title of the local book correctly?

Do you honestly think the union will get anything out of the 2019 contract. Company has 100% leverage
