Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Mechanical Forced Holidays - Honey I’m coming home!

Mechanical department is requesting 100% force level this holiday season. If you’re like me and have family flying in from the North Pole then you’ll want to sit around the fire and share stories and the joy of the season. What if you’ve been forced to work though? Do not fret for a critical is a critical is a critical (one case it’s not DO NOT FAIL A D--g & ALCOHOL TEST COUPLED WITH A CRITICAL)...as I was. If you do not show up for your forced assignment it’s a 1.13 failure to comply. So why not go home in style - with that OT pay and time to spare for making the meal! Pull out your phone in lineup to call Santa to let him know that you’ll be working and to take care of the kids. Ohhhh Noooo! 2.21 electronic device? A piss test? Paid to go home with time and a half?!?!

Merry Cristmas - Happy Holidays! Dare to be different! Operate within the lines of the policy.

Santa is here for you UP brothers and sisters

What is it with this MSO laborer. Evidently he's drinking the company coolaid. Most likely a snitch for upper management. Pushing for senior workers to retire and saying that the younger guys do 3 times the work. We the IAM union have an agreement. If you think working faster will save jobs, you are very wrong. If you think you'll make more money, you are very wrong. Read your union bylaws and learn them. Research history with the railroads.

You can't be forced on your rest day. If you are your local chairman us spineless and needs to be replaced. Even then, why am I going to come into work so someone "older/more seniority" can have MY days because that's all I could bid for so they could have a 4 day weekend? Also let's not forget that if you're an MSO and move 5 days week you need those rest days. So yeah force me, when your location gets slapped with HOS violation I'll be laughing at your idiocy.

Gather round dipshits...it’s time for mandatory fun.

Juan went above and beyond the call of duty to bring you sh-- bags who decide it’s too important to be at home than earn some scratch. All of you wearing tin foil on your heads can just exit this thread now. This thread only applies to those workers (young and old) that decide to not adhere to the force counts that will be published at your shop.

Read Juan’s suggestion and take it into consideration. Keep hijacking this thread and you’ll feel the wrath of my keyboard strokes.

Don’t marry a stripper and keep your head on a swivel - if your going to drink never do it alone and if you need a DD don’t use a freaking smart car with auto pilot you space cadets.

Now to back to work - we need our dividends paid out.

Don't know why they would make all of you work on a holiday. Mechanical forces can't fix anything anyway,ie low or no oil and water and sand, ground circuit breakers always popping, b/o wiper blades b/o toilets and that's coming out of the roundhouse. Road failures everywhere

Look here young pup. What's the deal with wanting all the senior lodge members to retire. I understand, but if you dont want the risk of being laid off, quit. It's not right to constantly whine about being laid off because of where your seniority places you. Have some respect for the senior men. They've been dealing with this type of lifestyle before you were an itch in your father's pants.

I think all the senior guys should try this method. It’s one step closer to the door and hopefully when you screw up a couple more times out the door. Then the guys at the bottom with a better work ethic won’t have to be furlowed.

I find it very funny, when we all applied to work for the railroad it states in the application that you will have to work holidays, weekends, odd days off, different shifts. You id--t's act like this is a normal 9 to 5 job.

Got to work today found out we are all being asked to work the holidays. It is so strange when we are laying off people in mechanical and then say they're forcing OT. I'm fortunate I have seniority in my craft and can work or not work. But for those who don't it's really unfortunate the way the company is being run.

We lose in our agreements because our sh--ty a-- unions sell us down the river. Take this last contract for instance. IBEW voted it down. Leadership didn't like that. Tried to use voter turnout as an excuse to send it for a revote. Second time even the local leadership turned to scare tactics to get yes votes and we took it up the a--.

Wait, they can force us to work on holidays? - YES

Wait - they only need 5 if we have 10! - WRONG

100% with RO7 = normal force level on a holiday

Critical Rule 1.13 will be charged against any employee who fails to report to their shift once notified to report.

This genius “Juan Festives” - nice play on words there pal.

This is precisely why you all lose when it’s time for agreements. You’re not united - constantly measuring up to your brothers and sisters as if you have it worse (yeah HDC, talking to you - you picked yours). You don’t even understand your agreements or the company policies. You always look like deer in the headlights when you’re pullled into investigations. Own your work, take pride in your work, and learn the rules of the game so you can begin to manipulate within the limits of the policy.

Again, Juan you are the exception. You have found a way to the same end result. Yes gentlemen, a critical is a critical. The only difference in this scenario is the piss test. If you fail to come in for your assigned (forced) shift you will receive a 1.13 and no piss test. You’ll get a MAPS waiver to avoid investigation.

However, if you take the 2.21 - you will be piss tested and will go home with pay. (Not sure it would be time and a half but it would be paid).

May the odds be forever in your favor
