Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Walmart has dropped the act

The only thing that's changed is Walmart has dropped the act. Like all major successful companies, all they've e v e r cared about is their shareholders and the bottom line; it's just that, in years before, they maintained the facade of being a down home, family-friendly business that wanted to attract a large pool of quality workers.

Which they don't need now. In fact, they're reversing gears and dumping people right and left. Think of it as an 18th century slave ship where they've drastically under supplied the food and now they have to throw excess slaves over board.

It's the same game, just less concern for fair play

Took this from another thread on the &wal-mart-stores board. OP @W7Afknv-1ujr

Btyt,

Two things. First, if Walmart goes down, so does northwest Arkansas. That will tend to make people in Bentonville hesitant in helping to harm the areas money maker. Don’t you think Walmart’s employees are still too loyal to go on strike?

Second, their yearly layoffs are not really a secret anymore. Everyone expects cuts at the end of the quarter now anyhow. So I doubt hush money is involved.

Enemy of my enemy is my friend... From what I understand in the blogs, there are layoffs in Bentonville corporate also (e.g., legal, personnel, finance, etc).

If someone knows anyone affected from corporate, we can then get the ball rolling. There may be some high hush-money payout to silence some... but not everyone.

Knowing your enemy is half the war.

I really want to take down this Dragon. There is no other way in saying it... but Walmart needs to be knocked down to its knees for what they are doing to every associates.

Well the time to stage walk outs was Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Calling out from now until Christmas would also hurt, but not as bad as those two days.

You’d also need to get some key roles at home office involved and in Dotcom. If the website didn’t have support and locked up, that would cause concern. Or if the functions that support the registers didn’t show up to work, that might be concerning. You need to get more than store associates to walk out with you.

Finally, you’d need to spread it on Facebook and Instagram. Call every news station and every state and national legislator. Walmart really only cares if it hits the reputation or stock price.

But really, I doubt you could get anywhere. Walmart has some really good media connections and it’s just too big to hit it in enough locations where’d they’d lose enough money to care.

This isn’t the Bible where David beats Goliath. In this story, Goliath wins.

ORGANIZATION... we must hit where WM will listen. We must have a communal voice that will escalate a movement that entrances the communities across America to practice: "F-CK WALMART" DAY.

If an average Walmart store grosses $153k per day -- if we cancel a day in WALMART then the company will lose roughly $765 million across the country. That will give the voice back to the people. This is a suplerative act which will open a door to talk to the Board.

If one day is not enough then we will escalate to 2 days... to a month... to indefinite.

Why keep a company that no longer support America's working force?

The fact is this: If America's work force cannot afford to feed their family or provide healthcare, this will affect the US poverty level and economy.

If you are going to be choked till you turn into Walmart Blue, WHY NOT create a Kamikaze effect that will bombard and take down the company?

I am a strategist. I am not a leader. But if there is a leader that intends to take down this gross monster, then I am interested in joining the band.

2tmq,

I think people in Nazi occupied areas sort of had the same mentality didn’t they?

When they came for Jewish people, gypsies stayed quiet because they weren’t affected and got to live a little longer.

When they came for the gypsies, the g-- people stayed quiet because they weren’t affected and got to live a little longer.

When they came for each group, people knew it was wrong but stayed quiet just to try to save their own skin.

That’s how all evil stuff takes root. People see things that are wrong and they keep quiet to try to save their own skin.

But in the end, we all end up in the oven together.

This is just the employment version of the same situation. While you’re keeping quiet and taking the c-ap that’s shoveled your way, do you ever wonder how long until your layoff comes?

Cause all the people I work with worry about it every night. In silence.

@ 2tbf, that reminds me of an over night manager we had who was horrible to everybody, and the stocker who tried to petition to get her removed either from the store or at least night shift. He wanted me to sign his petition, he already had like 30 names on it. I said no, he got mad and demanded to know why. Told him 'you're probably already fired and just don't know it yet, and so are probably at least half the people on this paper. Take off, don't talk to me.'

Sure enough, within two weeks he and a few of the petitioners were gone.

And the manager stayed.

To the guy who keeps ranting about unions, hey, you lead the charge. You get majority approval and push it through, I'll listen to anything you have to say. ........ No? THEN SHUT IT

Walmart went from no mass layoffs ever to layoffs every year for the last few years. Respect for the individual went out the door also about they same time they started layoffs.
