I am on the Sam's side of the business. I am being told that all the out ancillary departments w/registers will be eliminated....that would mean t-b-cco, jewelry, optical and photo. Does anyone know if this is true?
I have been told that since our club remodeled and now has more self checkouts than staffed registers that the ancillary departments are not to check members. They want members to use self checkout, staffed registers or scan and go.
Yes. They are closing tire and battery. 3rd party will be taking over optical in the near future.....As a licensed professional, I decided to end my relationship with this company. For the past 5 years I saw the writing on the wall. More automation, more online access, thus reducing the work force. Less people on the floor to assist customers. And now more departments closing, less employees. The time is coming. You will see less assistance for the customer. So please, DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THE CUSTOMER IS NUMBER 1. They are not...MONEY is number 1 for the Walmart/Sam's organization.
It's happened at some of the supercenters.
One supercenter, in west Virginia, has taken out most of their registers and put self check outs.
I don't know how many stores have done that
Costco is really nice....they still have REAL Cashiers.
