Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Who is benefiting from the company doing well?

Best financial run we’ve had in a long time as you say, so why layoff right before the holidays? I was not impacted but know many who were, several already on teams with low resources and support from upper management, those engineers left over are going to have an even heavier workload. I know people who are already working 12-15 hour days and now are expected to do more even though the company is supposedly doing well?

Who is benefiting from the company doing well? I’m certainly not, my colleagues are not, I haven’t met anyone who is. Perhaps that’s because those who are benefiting get to tell you remotely over webex from their new house paid for in stock options that you’re losing your job or your valuable team members are losing theirs. If you were involved in any of these types of conversations I hope you at least had the balls to tell them eye to eye.

A good post if you ask me. @W0T0Im5-ivh asked all the right questions.

The same thing that happened to Nokia is going to happen to Cisco Collaboration, mark my words, it's just that Stephen Elop is not around to do the honours, it's best to take the fall now than later

At least they're concerned about our "mental health"... what a joke. Lay offs have been looming over head since Aug. I can't do more w/less. I'm barely paid over what will soon be CA's min wage. But that is the point - they don't want people in CA (and the US in general). It is too costly. All the engineers laid off will be replaced by third party call centers over seas, and managers have to move to places like North Carolina (I was told to have a career I needed to move).

They talk about transparency, which is a bunch of bull. Why not come out and say what your intentions are,how many you layed off and why your doing it.Instead you have rumors going around,no one knows how there teams will be affected, and how there supposed to move forward. If anyone has options why would they stay at this c-ap of a company.Anyone could be next to get the ax,when the next wave of layoffs occur. They probably have the worst moral of any major company. The decision maker haven’t got a clue or care.
