Thread regarding CGG Veritas layoffs

Cost cutting is the new strategy

It's the new strategy to cut costs. Get rid of the more expensive older guys and replace them by cheap graduates.

Apparently in the UK they have got rid of a number of older employees in the past couple of months - one who had been with the company 39+ years , another 42+ years, and they are targetting folks over a certain age now.

In Redhill most of the ex-CGG guys are over 50 , some over 60.

Watch this space !

@VNceoU5-clkh nailed it in this short post. Thought this should be more visible.

New strategy? The answer is no. From 11,000 to 5.300 employees!!!

The past couple of years have seen a lot of knowledge and experience (i.e. older workers ) leave CGG. I really shouldn't generalize but what is left are the younger workers who think they know it all, but don't have a clue. They've survived because they were younger and had smaller salaries.
