Thread regarding Kmart layoffs

Lease fraud

Any other Kmart stores dealing with leasing fraudsters? For the last couple months, we have groups of people coming in and max-ing out their lease amounts. They turn around and sell the items on Facebook marketplace and default on the lease.

I guess we should be grateful for the sales, but I wonder if this will result in a chargeback at some point. Loss prevention doesn’t care. This group of people has wiped us of televisions, mattresses, and appliances. Every time they show up they claim they “just moved” and need stuff for the home.... ummm, do you really need 4 gas stoves and 2 electric stoves, and 3dishwashers?

Why would the store get a charge back? The leading company paid the company, why would Kmart care. It’s rsally whynotleaseit fault for approving them in the first place, nothing to do with SHC

It's part of the overall liquidation strategy. The person leasing like that knows how much the company will settle for in collections and they still get a profit off of what they sold on FB or Ebay It's a calculated risk I guess some people are willing to take

The Sears/Kmart leasing information fine print says "TEMPOE, LLC dba WhyNotLeaseIt® is an independent service provider of the LEASE IT program and not an affiliate or licensee of Sears®, Kmart®, ..."

So I'd guess that Tempoe LLC should have already paid Sears/Kmart for the leased item up-front, and then they (Tempoe) will sell the bad debt to a collections agency when the customer stops paying Tempoe. That's why Kmart doesn't care.
