Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Culp will make fast work of the old factory Edison worked out of

Culp with the command from his stroke of his pen the end. He will then close this factory and turn it into a piece of history. I am glad to be a part of history as he closes many factories for the board.

He will take a tour of the factory and realize it is a 17th century wasteland like the over paid D and T Rate. Nothing your weak union officials can do but to provide false hope to those who want to believe it. The writing is on the wall management is leaving while they can before they have no job.

So a word to the wise take your resume and start searching for a career somewhere else. The company will continue to pour salt on your wounds till the closeup of the factory 273 and campus in the electric city.

No union can save it! No salary staff can save it! That is why they brought in the current plant manager so he can close it.

The $23 billion GE Barrowed is to cover the costs of plant closings and payoff unemployment debt. The closing severance package will be the smallest amount you can imagine. What ground does the union have to negotiate for more?

Get out while you can.

Why would we have to give our over time back to the company?

The poster is on to something here but failed to mention about how non union GE employees are doing collective bargaining work. Salary staff running cranes and doing production work and cleaning the building.

I remember the BA after he was appointed said “ time for giving back to the company is over time to get stuff back for the membership”. We he must not come to the floor to often because he would see that managers harassing members, salary running cranes and cleaning.

I really hope Culp says 273 is in shambles and puts the padlocks on the campus gates.

VvoNATX-ywu - not all of us on here are union, uneducated and do not have inside information and have not seen the plants GE has around the world. So get off your high horse and stop trying to tell yourself Schenectady is going to be OK. I dont see the Schenectady site closing but if they can find a buyer that will accept the chemicals in the ground and the state will approve the sale they will let it go. If not, it will continue to shrink due to the union workforce. It will not look the same. I know you have a life deeply rooted where you are, but man, youre grasping at straws. Belfort may not have work, but they have job protection or 2+ years of layoff pay.

I can tell this poster is uneducated just by his lack of preschool grammar. I also would like to know if you “know” it’s going to close why are you still here?

Here’s the thing. The union is just a tool the company uses to control the workforce now we all know that. Second anyone with real inside info wouldn’t be posting on this site. It honestly makes me laugh that these people who are not quiting the company are telling others to do so. Maybe it’s them trying to get further up in the seniority list. Also if you think our union is bad look at the ones currently working alstom plants in the eu. They are blocking them from producing work by blocking the entrances and exits. The write down was 95% legacy alstom. Take it from someone who has been to some of these Ge sites overseas. If you think schenectady is falling apart take a walk at the Belfort plant.

Everyone knows it's coming but they are too fat and lazy and indoctrinated to save themselves. The best part about it is the t rates that they push out the door are filling in the open positions at similar jobs in the area. No one's gonna need a chubby d rate

Culp can make $300 million if he can turn GE around! Well I am guessing that the place to start is GE Power Division and I can see this posters thoughts could be on the money.
