Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Loosing more key employees

Key stakeholders have been dropping and I know of more on their way out. Tribal knowledge that can't be replaced. Writing is on the wall.

We have lost a lot of talented people in various departments in the company. A lot of unique knowledge gone. It’s pretty horrible experience in my job these days tracking someone down to get anything done, something that should take a matter of minutes now hours or days.

As for the 5G comments, a lot of you clearly don’t understand that at all. Just wishful thinking that it will help cause our failure. It will take years for that to be fully implemented and it won’t be coming to rural areas for a long time and coverage in those areas won’t be good in most cases. Hell, lot of those areas barely get 4g or 3g and those two technologies have been around a long time.

Wish people would stick to talking about what they know.

Good luck with 5G in the rural areas. Not saying it’s not a sinking ship but most areas can’t benefit from that technology due to terrain.

Windstream dismissed many IT professionals on October 1st, to be replaced by off-shore neophytes (IBM). I am saddened to see many friends and respected co-workers get screwed after sticking with the company working long hours in a stressful environment the last 10 years of little-to-no raises, cut benefits and nary any perks. To the upper management, please GFY.

Sounds like people are finally starting to wise up. I dont know anyone who's left WS and not doubled their salary.
