By 2015, culp was out of DHR. He understands p&l structure of independent companies. No central research.
He is too Jeffersonian in his thinking, imho. Don’t expect big corporate funded anything. Minds and machines is just the start. There will be new leadership in power. New metrics.
Good place to be is in M&A for GE in two years, as they start reinventing the business. Not pure research.
Just give him 2 weeks. He will layout the strategy, though he said he is not going to change current strategy started under John. He has &400million+ dangling in front.
AMW makes 3D printed parts, primarily. That’s one area where GE has a head start and a valuable technological edge. It would be really stupid to let go of that (so it’s likely I guess). In fact, additive manufacturing is probably the only piece of Alstom that should be kept.
Do you think Greenville’s AMW is on list? What do they actually do out there?
Somehow, the previous post got garbled. It meant to say
Danaher opened a third R&D Center in India in August 2015. The article does not ...
According to the following article on the web, Danaher opened a third R the article does not mention the size of the previous two R&D centers there but says Danaher had 6000 employees total in India.

The article made no mention of any Danaher R&D facilities in the USA or elsewhere.
I didn't find any information on the current status of these R&D locations.
A a central research group or dispersed? Which is it? Not development. Research.
DHR had 200 people in corporate. No central r&d. Expect GRC to shrink faster and move under businesses.
He knows how to run lean companies. Manufacturing and supply chain focus.
GE will be different when he is done. Guaranteed. It will be $30 or $3 - no middle ground.
Do not equate VA with GRC. He is an impostor who nearly ruined the place.
Corporate research
Did DHR have a corporate research group or separate ones in most of the businesses?
From someone who worked under him in DHR...
He is a big believer in long term investments and R&D. They are going to be central to future growth.
There is going to be more operational rigor in getting ROI and growth.
