Thread regarding J.B. Hunt layoffs

J.B. Hunt is growing at the expense of its own workers

I read recently that J.B. Hunt is considered to be the fastest growing truck company right now. If that is really the case, then I have to say that growth is powered by the combination of a disgustingly bad treatment of its own employees, and the willingness to satisfy every demand from the customers, no matter how unreasonable or even absurd it is.

I use to work at J.B. Hunt for a little more over a year before I got a better paying job. I came to this board on the site purely out of curiosity to see what’s going on in my old company. I gotta tell you that all the things that the people complaining about here are not exaggerated. I felt everything on my skin as well: low pay, pressure, nepotism, hostility, working long hours, inability for promotion.

What I don’t get about all of this is that people seem to think that all this comes from lousy management, lack of care for the workers, or just out pure ignorance, but no, I saw this to be something that’s done willingly, and even in an organized way. The company doesn’t want the worker to be satisfied, much less get promoted. Instead, it exploits the worker for small money, unloading a large amount of work onto him until he cracks under pressure and quits, and then they hire somebody new, who can take the pressure, for the same or even a lesser pay until he cracks too. That’s the magic circle at J.B. Hunt. It makes me sick.
