@jsk - Really? The dust inside HE was thick enough to cause sinus infections because Eddie is too cheap to fund proper vacuuming. Wasn't unusual for me to go into conference rooms where leftover food or trash had been left until it molded. And you want to blame the Indians?? Yes, fyi, you ARE racist.

@VsLLJ0x-ldq When I worked at HE I noticed that maintenance and delivery crews, will run their carts into the wall or sheer off wall corners. If they used the lift they would just ram that cart in. No respect for company properties. That building is almost 30 years old but if every one take care of it it would last another 30 years.

Maybe this a cultural thing. I never seen any Indian people who work there stop and pick up any litter they walked pass. White folks, we would pick up any litter we saw in the hall and toss that in garbage. Indian people pretended they didn't see it or they really blind. Very annoying when I see it. I know it is not their job but when you are working in a place you should at least show you wanted to be in a clean place.

Regarding life at Corporate...

They do maintain the campus but it is bare-bones

The phones at desks and conference rooms are at least 25 years old and in many cases either not working or because the the age of the equipment have a lot of static or buttons don't work

Some of the conference room chairs are literally falling apart.... some of the chairs haven't been cleaned and have rips in the fabric and just nasty

Some wallpaper is either stained and or literally peeling off walls in some rooms

The whiteboards in some conf rooms are porous so cleaning them is a joke

Carpets across the whole campus need to be replaced

Office partitions in some cases dirty and some with stains

Bathroom fixtures are 25 years old and in need of replacement, the maintenance guys are always called to fix leaks, etc

Outside windows haven't been cleaned in at least 3 or 4 years, I used to see the window cleaners every once and a while but not in a long time

Parking lot structures/garages need to be cleaned of old leaves and debris

Every time it rains there are leaks from the atrium glass ceiling, buckets placed everywhere

If a visitor just stays by the front desk and one of the conf rooms close by, it's respectable, but I am talking about bldg A & B ... I didn't go to C & D too often, maybe those are better but A & B need some major painting and cleanup

The issue is that to do a major paint job & cleanup it's going to cost millions of dollars and we don't have it.. let's recall this office opened in 1991 or 1992 so that's going on 28 years ago. And I suspect if shortcuts taken on these cosmetic issues I just wonder what else as far as HVAC and other components need upgrading... probably major upgrade needed to the whole campus

"Useless people are only left in Sears who can't switch and are wait for certain end."

With that grammar, I'm guessing SHI, wow.

"Even the Hoffman employees are on here telling stories about how bad and stressful things are."

There was also a thread or two last year about how the building is falling apart at Hoffman too, leaky ceilings and broken toilets and such.

@VsLLJ0x-npq The pay might be "great" if you are working at Hoffman Estates, I guess, but you are kidding yourself if you believe that the pay is "great" or "competitive" at the store level. It's not and it's one of the many reasons why Sears cannot get anyone to work for them.

Every non-commissioned hourly employee makes minimum wage regardless of years of service (softlines support, store support, office associate, etc), commissions are laughable for those selling on commission, zone supervisors make about the same as shift leader at a fast food joint yet have 3x the stress. A store manager might be paid decently but I don't know for sure.

I was a lead and made a few cents less than what entry-level employees were being offered over at Target or Walmart. What an insult. It didn't take me long to figure out that it was not worth it. The pay is NOT competitive whatsoever and raises are NOT given no matter how hard you worked.

Benefits? What benefits? They don't even offer an employee discount for crying out loud! They chipped away at vacation benefits too, so that it would take an eternity just to earn a full day of paid vacation. Forget about taking a week of paid vacation, those days are long gone. The health insurance benefits are not affordable or useful for anything less than a catastrophic emergency whatsoever and are only offered as a "formality" to appease the ACA regulations.

As for being the "best" place to work, you're kidding yourself there too. Even the Hoffman employees are on here telling stories about how bad and stressful things are. C-level executives are running for the exits a few months after being brought on board. That should tell you something.

Raises! Lol. If it had not been for minimum wage increases in michigan over the past few years, cashiers would still be making $7.25!!..at least they are currently making $9.25

2019 Michigan min wage goes to $10.00hr stil not enough because you never have steady hours

Big shot Eddie should match Amazon’s recent announcement of $15.00 min wage for even seasonal people( of course they dropped other benefits to make up for it)

I will say one thing about sears though.. if you have good work habits and are willing to learn new things and don’t vanish from the floor, they do pretty much leave you alone as long as you get the work done management isnt breathing down your neck every minute.. at least at my store

The people at my store are great to work with

The workers are not the problem with sears.. it’s the heavy layers of management above and beyond store managers.. you know those pesky district managers and above

But it really doesn’t matter anymore because eventually sears/Kmart will collapse with the debt load and will be just a distant memory

It’s really sad how far Sears/Kmart have fallen by the wayside since 2010..
