Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Jax W.A.R.N.

State Farm will layoff 100 employees at its Southside operations center on Nov. 30, the company said in a WARN notice filed Thursday.

Those employees work in claims and administrative support at 8001 Baymeadows Way.

The company will also layoff 59 employees at its Tampa operations center, located at 5405 Cypress Center Dr.

In August, the insurance company announced it would be completely shutting down the Jacksonville operations center, which has about 600 employees and at one point employed close to 1,200 workers.

Michal Brower, a spokeswoman with the company, said previously that "some" positions will be moved to the company headquarters in Bloomington, Illinois, or to centers in Atlanta, Dallas and Phoenix.

State Farm said that it made the decision to close the facility to "adapt to the rapidly changing needs and expectations" of customers, "leverage technology, and optimize available space" in its facilities. The company plans to exit the facility in 2019.

State Farm insurance agents will remain in Jacksonville.

The company moved into the Southside building in February 1977. The structure was built in 1976 and is just over 300,000 square feet, according to property records.

The property, which State Farm leases, is being marketed by CBRE with an asking rate of $20 per square foot.

Across the country, State Farm employs about 65,000 people and 19,000 agents. The company and its affiliates are the largest providers of auto and home insurance in the country.

So really. Here we go again. So much for tearing families apart and really are they there to make things go right? Then they use technology as an excuse which in reality could help families. More Kool aid.

Claims already know their last day is end of November. Ad Services also ending near that time. Some people in Jax in CCC are under the impression the office is staying open until the end on 2019. Any truth?
