Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Change in occurances?

Has anyone heard any more about the change in call in occurances? We desperately need it changed. There are associates in my store with 20+ occurances yet they are still here! WTF I don't understand how this is happening. Isn't 9 the max amount? Our pick up DM has 22 occurances and still calls in constantly. Mngrs say they can't coach for attendance, but they should be able to terminate for that many right?

doesn't matter how many points they give you when they take it off all the time for stupid reasons. let people ride the points all the way to 8 1/2 and fire some but remove points for others its bs.

Why do we need to take our lunch by the 6 hour? Will Walmart get in trouble.

One thing that has remained consistent with Walmart: management will always play favorites with certain employees. That's why you'll see some get away with blue murder, while YOU'LL be coached out the door with ease and speed. A good example is the 'meal violation'----Walmart folks know what I'm talking about. Same thing: for management's pets there's a yellow form they sign, which allows them to go over the exception for 'needs of the business'. For you? 'Nope, you knew the policy, here's your coaching.' Yeah.....these managers can contract AIDS flavored Ebola and rectally bleed from the fetal position :)

Yep lowered expectations and it's only going to get worse. Walmart is to stupid to see that paying a little more would actually save them money due to retention and having employees that actually give a f---. But nooo lets pay everyone the same c-appy pay and make them work every major holiday for straight pay, that should help retain good workers 👍

NSA called it right.

It’s not even the pay or the location that causes the talent problem. It’s the poor management. This is a prime example. Good talent won’t stay and work for bad managers.

To me this shows an immature ast. Your should not know others attendance, and he or she should have already acted on it a long time ago. My advice is to talk to your Co or store manager about it. Your ast is in that make believe world where no one else can do the job.

Lowered expectations. No one of quality wants to work at WM for slave wages anymore. Unless it is a desperate decision because of their situation.

A company's reputation gets disseminated out in the community and WM's isn't that good. There's better jobs for similar pay out there. WM is a last resort job, so WM lowers their standards and hires anyone with a heartbeat.

How's that working out for everyone? It costs money to train a new employee. Working in retail you can forget about having a weekend off. Forget about having a life when you are at their beck and call if you want 40 hours.

Those that do show up get 'punished' by having to do the job of 2 or even 3 people. That's the nature of retail - a revolving door of employees. It was the same when I worked retail back in the 90's But I went to college and got a degree. And yes, I worked for WM. At the HO in Bentonville for 10 years. The first 2 were great. New leadership came in and made it a miserable place to work. Why did I stay? I stayed because it was the best opportunity I had to save for retirement. Annual incentive. RSRs. Stock. After 10 years, I saw ML go through with a flame thrower and terminate whole areas. My team was hit with 3 layoffs. I managed to survive that round. I saw the writing on the wall and left before I became one of the casualties.

Walmart is broken it’s not just attendance. If your Asst won’t take care of it, what about the Co or Store Manager? I do understand what it does to the coverage and work load. The store could support you and give you someone from another area.

BTW I'm not concerned about people that call in occasionally. I know people get sick or have things come up. When a DM calls in for 2 days in a row because her cat coughed up a hair ball and she was too worried to come to work and that's not a problem, the system is broken!!

@vrq I know because I'm the one that has to do not only my job but pick up dm's job too. It's not right that I get yelled at because shes always calling in and it causes me to get behind in my job. That's how I know! When call ins affect my job it is my business! I know how many occurances she has because the asm tells me but does nothing to fix it. This system now is a bunch of BS. I'm either covering pick up or DSD because they call in all the time too. I would love to not have to worry about their call ins!!!!!

Worry about your attendance and not anyone else’s. Why do you know about salaried information? If they fired everyone that had marks on their record, they would have empty stores. That being said Home Office should change the policy.
